demo reel

For my part of the demo reel, I created a new 3d building of the modern art wing, of the Art Institute of Chicago. I took pictures of the building outside, edited them in Photoshop, and created a building out of them in After Effects. I created a 3d backround of a sky in Maya, and imported it into After Effects. The building is a rectangular prism, with streets and sidewalks. On the sidewalks I added elevated curbs, and a grass layer under the streets, to the streets I added an other street layer to create cross walks.

the Next Big Project

For the next project I am going to create a 3D model of the Illinois State Building, using google satellite to take pictures, adobe photoshop, and adobe after effects. In the begining of the project I had planned to create a 3d model of the block of Randolph, Wells, Dearborn, and Lake street, but that was going to be too much work for the amount of time I was given so I had to scale down. I was not able to recreate all 3 sides of the building because there were train tracks blocking part of the street, and another side of the street was only going one way due to construction, so I would have had to duplicate the other side of the building. I decided to just create the Illinois state building, because it was the most prominent and unique building on the block.

Music Video Artist's Statement

My name is Alex Hadjian. The music video was my first major project. I take much pride and honor in my work, and I am very proud to be able to claim it as my own. The video was created using the Adobe After Effects program, and by merging videos which I filmed, together. The final version took some time to create, and I went through an earlier video; as well as a storyboard with completely different ideas. One of the main reasons that I decided to use the "God of War" video game series in my video is because the game is about the Greek gods of Olympus, and my family comes from Greece as well. In the music video, there are a few sequences. In the first sequence it shows two men fighting, the two men are Zeus, and his son Kratos. In the game they are both enemies. Quickly after their fighting is over the video rewinds itself. I added some noise to the rewind in attempt to recreate the rewind which is in older videos. The videos were all filmed on my television, so I had to mask out parts of the t.v. which appeared in the video. The masking took a lot of time, but was worth it in the end. I am very proud of my work, it may be my first project, but I will continue to produce great work.

Music Video Information

The music video which you see below was created by me, I used the Adobe After Effects program to create it. The techniques I used in the video were masking, time-relapse, time stretch, and noise effects. In the background I featured the song "Sparta Rises", by the Nine Inch Nails. The video is composed of a few clips of the video game "God of War", with the exception of the last sequence of the video which was from youtube.com, I filmed all of the footage. I created this video with the help of my teachers at Gallery 37.
